Digital Support
Rob Humphreys, the Digital Support Enabler, can help churches and mission communities across Cumbria make better use of digital tools to connect with one another and with their wider community.
Whether you already have confidence online, or you’re not sure where to begin, this support is designed to meet you where you are and help you take sensible, manageable next steps.
If you’re clergy, a churchwarden, PCC member, communications volunteer, part of a youth team, a mission community leader – or simply someone trying to help your church communicate more clearly – this page is for you.
How I can help
Support is practical and flexible. You don’t need to do everything at once, and there’s no expectation that every church needs to be on every platform.
Social media support
Help using Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube – including what to post, how often, and how to keep things manageable. This can include reviewing existing accounts or helping you start simply.
Content planning
Support with planning content in advance, shaping ideas into posts, and creating simple calendars or short campaigns around seasons, events or priorities.
Training sessions
Training can be delivered in person, online (Zoom/Teams), or as a hybrid session. Sessions are tailored to your context and confidence level, from basics to more developed use.
1:1 support and digital drop-ins
Individual support for specific questions or challenges. This might be troubleshooting, reviewing what you’re already doing, or helping you decide what not to do.
Website support
Guidance on keeping websites clear, up to date and easy to use. This includes structure, content clarity and basic SEO so people can actually find what you’re offering.
Email newsletters
Support with tools like Mailchimp – including structure, frequency, content ideas and making emails easier to read and more likely to be opened.
Photography and video basics
Practical help with filming and photographing using the kit you already have, plus editing, captions and subtitles so content is accessible and usable on social media.
Livestreaming and hybrid church
Advice on simple, reliable livestreaming and hybrid setups, focusing on clarity, sound and ease of use rather than complex systems.
Digital welcome and pathways
Thinking through what happens after someone watches a video, comments on a post, or sends a message – and how churches can respond clearly and kindly.
Analytics and insight
Simple ways to understand what’s working and what isn’t, without getting lost in data. The focus is on learning, not chasing numbers.
Policy, safeguarding and accessibility
Support with good practice online – including moderation, permissions, privacy, accessibility, captions, readable design and inclusive content.
“Done with you” or “done for you”
Support can be collaborative (building skills and confidence) or more practical and hands-on where appropriate. This is agreed case by case.
How support usually works
- You email with what you’re trying to do or what’s not working.
- We agree a realistic next step.
- We review and adjust as needed.
There’s no expectation of perfection, consistency across every platform, or keeping up with trends.
God for All Digital Support Group
You’re also welcome to join the God for All Digital Support Group on Facebook.
This is a friendly space to:
- Ask questions
- Share ideas and examples
- Hear about training, research and opportunities
- Learn alongside others from across Cumbria
It’s a practical place to troubleshoot together and see what others are trying.
