đź’— A Prayer for Father's Day
__________________________
Loving God, on this Father's Day,
we know all sorts of emotions will be felt,
and many situations may feel 'unseen':
We pray for those parents who find themselves feeling especially alone today;
For those longing to be dads,
but wondering if this season will come;
For those dads who have lost children and
who know that things will never be the same again;
For those who have a difficult or painful relationship
with their own father or child,
as well as those who have never known their father;
For those missing dads no longer present;
For those dads struggling to cope,
or who feel like giving up,
maybe racked with guilt,
overcome by shame,
or feeling defeated by inadequacy;
For those struggling to come to terms with
distance, absence, or disconnection.
Lord, these griefs are often hidden
on this day of celebration, and yet you see each sorrow,
know each story, & collect each tear.
Whatever our own experience of earthly fathers,
or of being a father ourselves, we know that you are our 'Father in heaven', a 'Father to the fatherless',
with unparalleled patience, abundant kindness,
& an ever-presence.
We pray each of our aching hearts may experience a measure of your Spirit's healing, as we rest in and receive afresh your fatherly care through Christ,
even today.
Amen. ... See MoreSee Less

Maryport Churches are starting a fantastic new venture this Autumn, working alongside Christian’s Against Poverty (CAP) they will be running a Life Skills Course giving local people much needed skills to help them in the current Cost of Living Crisis.
The CAP Life Skills course covers topics such as budgeting to make your money go further; shopping and cooking on a budget; adopting a healthier lifestyle to promote wellbeing and helpful energy saving tips. It does this in a friendly, welcoming group setting with course members learning from each other, as well as from the course content
Life Skills coaches Lisa Andradez and Jacqui Hastewell are hoping to gather a team of volunteers together to ensure that all those coming on the course are well supported, and if possible, also train more people as Life Skills Coaches to ensure more courses can go ahead both in Maryport, and across the Diocese, helping more people in need.
If you are interested in volunteering in Maryport please give Lisa a call on 07884611831 or email her lisa.andradez@carlislediocese.org.uk or lisaandradez@caplifeskills.org
